Canine Sports Massage

Canine massage can benefit most dogs, from you family pet to agility, working dogs and show dogs.

Using a variety of massage techniques and myofascial release, these techniques can release superficial and deep tension. Along with applying specific gentle mobilisation techniques to further improve performance and flexibility.

Canine massage can have a positive effect for the well-being of the dog, massage treatments can also:
• Aid reduction of stress & promote relaxation
• Improve suppleness and increase range of movement
• Aid recovery from injury
• Enhance performance and muscle tone
• Improve and increase circulation
• Relax muscle spasm and release tension
• Reduce stress

Massage treatments are not alternative to veterinary treatment. We are happy to work alongside your veterinarian. By adhering to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, we always obtain veterinary consent prior to providing a massage treatment for your dog.

Treatments we use

The majority of the massage treatments are hands on, which allows Emma to feel soft tissue changes. The techniques used are both sports massage techniques and myofascial release.

Myofascial release how been shown to be extremely effective in elongated connective tissue and supporting restoration of functional movement.

However, Emma does use some tools on occasions depending on what she is feeling beneath her hands.

Tools we use
Photizo (infra-red-light therapy) – a non-invasive therapy tool to aid wound healing, musculoskeletal conditions and pain relief.
Fascial Edge Tool – Designed by Andrew Glaister D.C. The tool aids the release of fibrosis, fascial adhesions and entrapped mechanoreceptors along the horse’s or dog’s kinetic chains.
Taping – Where needed Emma will provide taping services. Taping can reduce or manage swelling or edema, increase joint range of motion and muscle function.
